Dear Maddy,
One of the greatest joys in my life was having the opportunity to be in community with you. As a new member, you offered us perspective that many of us didn't have because we were so deeply entrenched. You committed so much to the movement, to our hub family, and made all of us better organizers - and better human beings. You volunteered when others wouldn't and you were such a bright ray of light during a time when the chaos of the world made everything feel dark. Your dedication to making a better world possible inspired me in every space.
When I last spoke with you, you told me that you were transitioning into a new period of life. You told me you were just finding your niche in the Sunrise LA hub, that you were super excited for the work being done by the LA hub locally, and Sunrise Movement nationally. You told me that you planned on staying involved. My response to you then is the same as it is now: you're always gonna be part of the Sunrise LA family no matter where you are.
I meant it then - and I mean it now.
Thank you for allowing us to grow and be in community together. Your Sunrise family will always love you. Like you said when we last spoke, I hope we cross paths again.
With love,
Josiah
Dear Josiah,
Thank you so much for this beautiful post and picture. I'm so curious, do you remember where I sent this from? I thought his hair was long when he met you? Help me solve the mystery :) It was so nice to hear a little bit about what you guys talked about, and how he was with you at hub meetings. Everything you shared here and with us at the gathering is so treasured. Thank you again. If you ever think of and want to share any additional stories, pictures etc, I (and I know many other people) would absolutely love to see/hear them all. And they will be cherished forever.
Sending big love from Berlin,
Hanna (Maddy's middle sister)
