Maddy Lignell was a fingerprint, there was simply no one like him. His unique blend of heart, joy, energy, intelligence, friendliness and compassion are unmatched.
We first met Maddy when he was in middle school and wrestling with our son at Boulder United, a local youth wrestling program. My wife Margie and I loved him instantly. Before us was a 70 lb bundle of personality, an absolute delight to be around (ok, maybe 65 lb). Incredibly engaging from a young age, a trait he never lost, every encounter left us warm and positive.
After high school we enjoyed updates from Oliver and Jordana on his accomplishments, whereabouts and shenanigans, along with an occasional encounter with Maddy himself. He seemed to live at an accelerated pace, making the rest of us feel like we were standing still. I'm not sure anyone packed in more academic achievement, travel, outdoor exploration, caring, socializing, volunteering and high level work than Maddy over the last 10 years.
We are heartbroken to lose such a kind and powerful soul. I will forever remember Maddy with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.

With infinite love to Maddy, may you rest in peace. And Jordana, Oliver, Hannah, Shayna and Pavel for sharing him with the world.
