Some of my best memories are times I spent with Maddy. He had such a way to brighten a room and make everyone feel better. In some of my darkest times Maddy was someone who could change my whole outlook on life. More than anything Maddy made me feel like I belonged. From first meeting Maddy in middle school, to skiing, high school, time camping, visiting Maddy in California, many phone calls, and going out to eat, I've been fortunate enough to have been close with Maddy. Maddy was so often hilarious and could welcome people with his humor, charm, and very intelligent self. Maddy was an adventurer that never stopped helping me wake up to the excitement, positivity, enthusiasm, and potential that's present in many moments of life and people themselves. I can't possibly forget Maddy. His life may have been short but it was significant. I was so shocked to hear the news, and I am having trouble finding words to use. Maddy really valued the important things in life and helped me beyond words as my friend. I am so sorry to Maddy's family for your loss.

Dear Tim, Thank you so much for writing this. All these words are (of course) spot on and so beautiful to read. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to come talk to you at the gathering. However, it was lovely to see you there and hear you speak. I really appreciate it. Keep in touch. Sending you and your family my warmest well wishes from Berlin. Love, Hanna (Maddy's big sister)
