I knew Maddy as Hanna's younger brother. What always struck me about Maddy was how much confidence was in that little boy's body. Maddy was the messenger (from Jordana and Oliver to Hanna) while we were in the house, usually downstairs in the basement or upstairs in Hanna's room. I remember his voice most of all, "HANNAAAAAAAA, mom said...." penetrating whatever closed-door, moody teenager discussions we were having with such an air of authority and urgency. I also remember how much you could tell Maddy ADORED and looked up to his big sister Hanna. Hanna would always put her hand on his head or ruffle his hair. I have a younger brother as well but I definitely didn't treat him as lovingly as Hanna and Shayna did when I was a teenager. They were always kind, including and affectionate to Maddy no matter who was around. I have memories of a humorous garage sale with Maddy and Hanna and many air hockey games in the basement.
I am so incredibly heartbroken to hear about Maddy's sudden passing. What a dear and beloved soul he was. I am praying this verse over your family "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18. I have many fond memories of being at your home and around your family, I could always tell how close you all were. My family (Jacques, Cheryl and Max Newey) sends their deepest condolences as well.
Love,
Madi Newey
