Hi, my name is Brigitte and I met Maddy during spring break 2014 when he traveled across the country to help rebuild the Jersey shore after Hurricane Sandy. Above all else I remember his enthusiasm for the work being done, his understanding of people to do whatever he could to get us laughing, and his selflessness. During our short week together, he joked about attending the SLO school and how cold the showers were. These Alternative Spring Break trips are interesting in that way; for a period of time you get to know absolutely everything about a person before you return back to your respective lives. My thoughts are with his friends and family that got to experience Maddy all the time. What a bright young man with a smile and spirit that could light up a room.

Dear Brigitte,
Thank you so much for sharing these cute pictures and stories! I'm so glad Maddy made a positive impression on you and that you got to experience his ability to light up a room:) If you ever want to share any additional stories, pictures etc, I (and I know many other people) would absolutely love to see/hear them all. And they will be cherished forever.
Sending big love from Berlin,
Hanna (Maddy's middle sister)
TY, Brigitte. As Maddy's mom, I helped him sort out this Alternative Spring Break trip. He was so stocked to be working and helping out, but especially thrilled to be meeting new people like you and the rest of the team. I found some pictures of that time on his camera. Take a look!
